MSc Research Posters: Fall Term 2020 DV435
These research posters were produced in Fall 2020 by MSc students in LSE “Political Economy of Africa” (DV435), the gateway course in the International Development department’s Africa Specialism. Teams composed of four or five students created these to develop background and country-specific knowledge on two countries from different macroregions of Africa (e.g. Mali in the Sahelian Zone of West Africa, and Zambia in southern Africa). Research guided by rival theories of economic and political change explored the connections between (I.) geography and endowment, (II.) the spatial frameworks for national development created by regional administrative grids and land tenure institutions, (III.) contemporary economic spatial-sectoral structure and regionally-targeted development policies, and (IV.) political cleavages. These aspects of political economy are captured in the four columns of each poster. PhD students and post-docs linked to the Spatial Inequalities in African Political Economy project contributed country-specific knowledge and coached the teams.
The poster template was designed by Yuezhou Yang, PhD student in LSE’s Department of International Development. Hannah M. Kim designed the website and this webpage. Comments and feedback sent to [email protected] will be forwarded to the authors. Enjoy the posters!
